Fitzroy Square Opera presents
The Clowns
Pagliacci by Leoncavallo &
The Impresario by Mozart
Sung in English and performed by the
Garden Opera Company
Fitzroy Square Gardens, London W1
Thursday 21 July 2011 at 7.30pm
The Garden Opera Company returns to Fitzroy Square for the fifth time to transform this central London square into an oasis in the middle of Fitzrovia. The garden will be dressed with uplighting and flares and the performance will be relayed to visitors passing through the outside of the square.
Following the riotous lives of a troupe of travelling players, The Impresario, Mozart’s satirical take on the opera world, is served as the prequel to Leoncavallo’s masterpiece, Pagliacci. From the laughter of casting couch capers to the tears of tragic betrayal, this is a tale exploring what lies behind a clown’s smile. Sung by some of the profession’s finest singers and accompanied by an acclaimed ensemble of chamber musicians, the world-famous tunes of Pagliacci and Mozart create a uniquely powerful cocktail.
Opera picnics will be provided by La Fromagerie in Marylebone at a cost of £20 (£18 if booked in advance). There will be a cash bar serving wine, Ridgeview Fitzrovia & Bloomsbury sparkling wines, and soft drinks.
Tickets (including seat):
Details on how to book are below - plus details of our special champagne packages!
Please note that tickets are non-refundable, except in the event that the performance has to be cancelled because of very bad weather.
